On the Road Again!

On May 1st we flew from Anchorage to Frankfurt where we picked up our rental car and drove to Ceske Budejovice.  We overnighted at Pension Stilek (we had stayed there last year and thought it was quite nice).   It was about a 5 hour drive from Frankfurt and it was a very nerve-wracking one as it is on the autobahn with cars, vans, buses and trucks all going at least 90 miles an hour!
Today has been very peaceful.... and truly 'on the road again'.

It is definitely Spring here in the Czech Republic at Pension Stilek

These two jeeps were authentically tricked-out US military jeeps.  The people were wearing different, what appeared to be US military uniforms, complete with sidearms and rifles.  Later on, down the road, we saw 4 other similar jeeps.  One of them mounted a 50-caliber machine gun!

The walled city of Trebon

You never know what you will see along the road!

And, an old kloster on a knoll along the side of the road kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Telc, another walled city.

  1. looks like it is great weather; beautiful walled cities and an excellent inn; fun to actually see your trip as it happens; no more slide shows upon return; waiting for rain in Rumsey
